New City Church Leadership
New City Church is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief biographies of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.
Dave Ludwig
Pastor, New City Church
Dave Ludwig is our Pastor at New City Church. Before moving to El Segundo, he and his wife had been in ministry in Southern California for the past 2 decades. Dave earned his M.Div. from Fuller Seminary and is currently (and slowly) finishing his Doctorate Degree at Fuller. Jess and Dave have five kids: Macy, Owen, Elias, Cora, and Jalen. The entire Ludwig love being at New City Church and participating in all the South Bay offers!
Keren Ryan-Burnette
Worship Leader
Keren has been leading worship for over a decade at New City Church. She studied music at Fullerton College and her background in music goes back to writing and performing her own songs at a young age. She now counts it a privilege each week to lead alongside her husband Daniel who plays piano, as well as an incredibly talented group of musicians. She hopes to be used as an instrument for the Kingdom of God at New City, pointing people to Jesus through her life and leadership.
Avery Drost
Youth Pastor
Avery Drost has served in Youth Ministry at New City since 2017 and watched our church grow from just a handful of families to a thriving community of believers. He graduated from Westmont College in Santa Barbara before moving to the South Bay, competing now in Professional Beach Volleyball for over 15 years and working to connect the volleyball community to the Kingdom of God. He and his wife Aly were married in 2012 and have 3 kids, Blake (2016), Micah (2018) and Jane (2023).Amy Cruse
Children's Ministry Director
Amy has served in Children's ministries since 1999. She studied Liberal Studies at Azusa Pacific University, and particularly enjoyed studying child development and math. Amy continued to volunteer in ministry as she taught preschool for several years and eventually changed professions to work in children's ministry fulltime in 2014. She has a love for organized chaos, messy crafts, learning alongside children, and loving and supporting neurodivergent kiddos and their families.
John Susich
Afterschool Care Program Director
Ken Holliday
Executive Business Director
Ken Holliday and his wife Linda, a retired American Airlines Flight Attendant who flew for 35 years, have two adult children. Ken and Linda have been members of New City Church since 2010 and Ken has served as Head Usher and Greeter for many of those years. In November of 2011, Ken accepted the position of Executive Business Director for the New City and is responsible for running the day to day business of the church.
Brooke Wiley
Finance/Admin Assistant
Daniel Burnette
Elder
Having a formal music education from Fullerton College, Berklee College of Music and Mastering Academy, Daniel works as a composer for TV shows and VP of Music for two companies producing music for movie trailers and promotional campaigns for movies. Since moving to El Segundo with his wife Keren in 2013, they have served together on the worship team with Daniel as the keyboardist. In addition to music, Daniel enjoys cooking, exercise, and is very passionate about natural theology and Christian apologetics in defending the truths of Christian theism and seeking out answers to difficult questions raised by those both inside and outside of the Church.
Tim Singer
Elder
Tim and wife Laura were former First Baptist members, and, in fact, baptized and married in this sanctuary! Tim is a Penn State grad and gleefully retired, now concentrating on bridge, poker, backgammon, Trivial Pursuit, and Barbershop (Laura sings and directs). Tim was confirmed in the Presbyterian Church back in Tyrone, PA. He was reunited with Christ, thanks to Susie and Pastor John Svendsen, for which he is eternally grateful. He is honored and humbled to serve as eldest Elder.
